Create a Remembrance Tree for Osaze

Saturday, March 16, 2024
10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. at the HUB 233 B

The Jana Marie Foundation will lead community members in creating our third art installation to honor the life and legacy of Osaze Osagie. The finished Remembrance Tree will be assembled and displayed at the Osaze’s Heart Scholarship Fundraising Dinner Event at Access Church next week (see event info below). PLEASE RSVP so that we have sufficient art supplies and refreshments.

Osaze's Planting with a Purpose

Saturday, March 16, 2024
12:00 p.m.–2:00 p.m. at Headhouses by The Creamery and Tyson Buildings

Volunteers will plant, seed, label, and propagate a variety of plants. Your helping hands that are willingness to get a little dirty in Osaze's memory is greatly appreciated. These seedlings will eventually grow in fields on the four-acre Dr. Keiko Miwa Ross Student Farm at Penn State or go toward the annual plant sale and outreach projects in partnership with State College Meals on Wheels to increase access to fresh produce. No previous experience required. SPACE IS LIMITED, sign-up required for participation.

The Osaze Osagie Memorial Lecture: A New Annual Signature Series on Global Black Communities and Mental Health

The inaugural Osaze Osagie Memorial Lecture, will be taking place Tuesday, March 26 at 6:30 p.m. in the Hintz Family Alumni Center at Penn State University Park. The lecture will feature a conversation with Sybrina Fulton, racial justice activist and mother of Trayvon Martin, a Black youth whose 2012 death in Sanford, Florida, helped spark the early #BlackLivesMatter movement. Savita Iyer-Ahrestani, senior editor of the PennStater magazine, will conduct this dialogue with Fulton.
